First Aid- Technical Guide in case of problems:

  1. Is the driver unit software for your WLAN-Card installed?
  2. The SSID (also called "ESSI" or "network name") has to be set on "egarten". You can find this option in the preferences of your WLAN-card. "DHCP" must be activated in your network preferences (TCP/IP has to be connected to your WLAN-Card)
  3. The option-field "Gateway" must be empty
  4. The option-field "DNS" must also be empty or inactive
  5. "WEP" must be deactivated. You can find this option in the configuration of your WLAN-Card (normally done over the accompanying software)
  6. Switch over to "Infrastructure"
  7. The channels in use are 11 and 1 at Seehaus and 11 at the Chinese Tower
  8. After applying these settings to your computer, reboot within the reception area
  9. Test if you have reception by using the accompanying sofware for your WLAN-Card. If you have no signal, change your position and try moving nearer to the antennas (see above)
  10. If you have signal, verify if the card is connected to Accesspoint (verfication through enclosed software of card). If not, it is usually due to the wrong SSID or you are not using the right channel.
  11. Verify with Ms-Dos by entering the demand (shell) if "ping 10.1.1.1" is possible and check if the answer is positive. If not, enter "jpconfig" to view your IP. Your IP should range between "10.1.2.(1-254) and 10.1.10(1-254)". If another IP address should appear (i.e 192.168.x.x), delete with "joconfig/release all" and refer to a new IP with "jpconfig/renew all". Test the connection with the server again (with "ping 10.1.1.1).
  12. Open Browser and enter any address. Automatically, the e-garten website should appear
  13. Log-on with the data from your voucher
  14. If you have logged on successfully and you still cannot open any webpage, enter "ping 141.1.1.1" to test if you are connected to the Internet. Then enter "ping.web.de" to check if DNS is functioning correctly. If the first "ping" demand works and the second does not then check the configuration of the DNS. Change the settings as described in point no. 5.
